We are a husband-and-wife team—Papa Sam and Grandma Marg to our granddaughters—with a passion for good, freshly roasted coffee. After many years living and working in Alaska’s Mat-Su Valley, and a brief time in western Wisconsin, we followed our granddaughters to colorful Colorado in 2022. That same year, we founded Jackson’s Black Dog Coffee Company with the dream of sharing our love for exceptional coffee with family, friends, and neighbors.Our name is a heartfelt tribute to our late dog, Jackson. He was more than a pet—he was family, a trusted adventure buddy, and a registered therapy dog in Alaska and Minnesota. For over a decade, Jackson brought comfort and strength to children facing difficult circumstances, offering them the safety and support they needed to share their stories. His gentle spirit and unwavering companionship continue to inspire us every day.Now, with our spirited English Lab puppy keeping us on our toes, we’re reminded of how much coffee is like dogs: some bold and full of energy, others smooth and mellow—but all bringing joy, comfort, and connection.
